ASA Selects Medford for 2011 Men's Slowpitch Championships

The Pacific Northwest regional governing board of the Amateur Softball Association has awarded a large and prestigious men's slowpitch tournament to Medford.
The U.S. Cellular Community Park softball/baseball complex will host the 2011 Men's D Western National Tournament, which is expected to attract up to 70 teams during Labor Day weekend.
ASA's western national tournaments encompass teams from Oregon, Washington, California, Arizona, Nevada, Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico and Hawaii.
The "D" classification is a skill level equivalent to the skill level of the city's men's "A" and "B" leagues.
The highly coveted tournament is expected to generate several hundred-thousand dollars in economic impact for Medford businesses.
